When is the right time to migrate from Xero?

The cleanest time to migrate is at the start of a new financial year (1 April). That way:

• Your old accountant finishes the prior year (FY26) in Xero
• Afirmo handles FY27 onwards from a fresh starting point
• Bank transactions rebuild from 1 April with no double-up

That said, you can migrate any time. If you join mid-year:

• Afirmo pulls in the data you have so far this financial year
• Bank feeds connect from your join date
• The tax team picks up from where your old setup left off

If your old accountant is still completing your last return, hold off on switching tax agency until they have filed. Migration can run in parallel.
