What is an IRD number?

An Inland Revenue number is a unique number given to you by New Zealand's Inland Revenue Department so that you can pay the correct work taxes as you work in New Zealand. 

Your IRD number is used to keep track of tax you pay and entitlements you receive. 

NB You will need a New Zealand bank account before you apply for your IRD number.
