What Information does Afirmo ask for you to set up an NZBN (New Zealand Business Number)?

For a sole trader the information Afirmo will request is your IRD Number 

You can find your IRD number on one of the following: 

  • Previous pay slips 
  • Letters or statement from the Inland Revenue 
  • On your KiwiSaver statement. 
  • Income details from your employer 
  • By calling IRD 
  1. Proof of identity 

A proof of Identity document Afirmo needs to provide Inland Revenue on your behalf are: 

  • New Zealand driver licence 
  • New Zealand password 

If you don't have a New Zealand driver licence or passport we will except: 

  • New Zealand birth certificate 
  • New Zealand citizenship certificate 
  • Overseas passport 

NB Once your Identity has been verified, an NZBN is allocated and you can start using your NZBN number straight away. 

RealMe login and a MyNZBN account 

NB When you register you NZBN number with Afirmo you do not require a RealMe login and a MyNZBN account as we use Afirmos authorisation. 

If you are a partnership the information Afirmo will request includes: 

  1. IRD number 
  1. Proof of partnership

NB A company will already have been allocated a NZBN number.
