Setting up Tax Agency Authority with Afirmo
To let Afirmo deal with Inland Revenue on your behalf, complete a Tax Agency Authority for the taxpayer or entity Afirmo will represent.
Use the IRD number that belongs to that taxpayer:
- a sole trader uses their personal IRD number;
- a company uses the company's IRD number;
- a partnership uses the partnership's IRD number; and
- each individual partner needs a separate authority if Afirmo will handle their individual IR3 return.
Open https://app.afirmo.com/tax/settings and follow the Tax Agency Authority prompts. Review the authority, sign it and submit it.
Submitting the form does not by itself confirm that the Inland Revenue link is active. Wait for Afirmo to confirm that setup is complete.
If another tax agent is linked to the same tax account, coordinate the change before authorising Afirmo. Inland Revenue does not allow more than one intermediary of the same type to be linked to the same account at the same time.
Some tax-agent clients can receive an extension of time for income tax returns. This depends on Inland Revenue's rules and the customer's filing position.
