Can I see profit and loss separated by trading name?

If you operate multiple trading names under one legal entity, Afirmo's reporting doesn't currently split P&L by trading name natively. The P&L is generated for the entire entity.

Workarounds:

  • Separate organisations - if each trading name is its own legal entity (its own company or sole trader registration), set each up as a separate Afirmo organisation
  • Custom categories - tag transactions with custom categories specific to each trading name, then filter the P&L view (limited but workable)
  • Export and split - export transactions to CSV and split by trading name externally for reporting purposes

For businesses that genuinely need division-by-division reporting on a single entity, Xero's tracking categories may suit better. This is one of the deliberate trade-offs Afirmo makes for the sake of simplicity.
